Cwmbran Physiotherapy Centre was established in December 1999 by Chartered Physiotherapist, Allison Jones.
Health & Sports Physiotherapy is a unique physiotherapy practice, dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and musculoskeletal problems. Based in North Cardiff, we work closely with national teams and sporting institutes, and consult to numerous sports clubs in Cardiff and across South Wales.
Allison's aim, when she opened the practice, was to provide a quality, private chartered physiotherapy service to the population of Cwmbran and it's surrounding areas. Something that had not existed previously.

Our team at Health & Sports Physiotherapy have extensive experience within elite level sport, private practice and the national health service. All our practitioners are members of The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and registered to the Health and Care Professions Council.
Daniel Jones Msc MCSP AACP
Daniel graduated from the University Of Wales College Of Medicine in 2003, with a BSc Honours degree in Physiotherapy. Throughout his career he has developed a broad range of clinical experience, from working with the general public to elite sports athletes.
He has previously worked in New Zealand, Australia and the U.K., with a specialist interest in musculoskeletal and sports medicine and has completed an MSc in Sports Physiotherapy at Cardiff University.
Daniel has worked with a number of professional sports teams including Worcester Warriors, Gloucester Rugby and the Welsh Rugby Union as Head Physiotherapist to the Wales National 7s Squad. Daniel is currently Head of Medical Services for Guinness Pro14 rugby team the Cardiff Blues.
Alyson Matheson MCSP AACP
Clinical Lead Physiotherapist
Alyson qualified from Cardiff School of Physiotherapy in 1987. She worked for Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust for 22 years. She specialises in Musculoskeletal Medicine and has held a number of positions including Superintendent Physiotherapist at Chepstow Hospital and later in Musculoskeletal Outpatients at St Woolos Hospital, Newport.
Alyson joined Health & Sports Physiotherapy in 2015 and is now our Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, managing our team of therapists, driving the clinical standards across our network. She has completed numerous post graduate courses in acupuncture, occupational healthcare, muscle imbalance, Cyriax & McKenzie concepts. Alyson specialises in the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions, including sports injuries and degenerative conditions.
Wendy Casterton MCSP AACP
Wendy graduated from St George’s, University of London with first-class honours in her BSc Physiotherapy degree. Since graduation, she has worked in a large teaching hospital in Singapore and in private practice, specialising in musculoskeletal conditions. Wendy joined Health & Sports Physiotherapy in 2016 and has completed, amongst others, post-graduate courses in acupuncture and the Mulligan concept. She is also a qualified Mummy MOT practitioner.
Wendy is also a triathlete and recently represented Team GB at the Age Group World Championships in Rotterdam. She is currently working towards her Level 2 triathlon coaching certificate.
Based at our Cardiff office, Lynne is the practice manager for our network of clinics ensuring the highest level of customer care and service. Lynne joined the team at Health & Sports Physiotherapy in 2010, bringing a wealth of experience in accounts and business administration.
Lynne was recently awarded a second prestigous award by WhatClinic.com, for delivering an excellent level of service and a superior satisfaction record for customer care and service in both 2014 and 2015.
